Wool Source Particles are an ethically sourced, renewable ingredient for personal care, offering both a high-performing feedstock for hydrolysed keratin production and a natural active for hair and body care formulations.
With 100% biobased carbon content (ASTM D6866), Wool Source Particles are the world's only Cradle to Cradle® certified solution for hydrolysed keratin. Improved solids handling makes them easier to manage for tank loading and raw materials handling, and they can be transported and conveyed as a particle in either dry or suspension form.
Beyond keratin extraction, Wool Source Particles are suited to other personal care formulations. They offer a soft-to-skin feel and have a pH close to skin's surface that supports a healthy skin microbiome. They’re a less abrasive alternative to coconut and walnut shell exfoliants. Wool keratin is also the richest natural source of cysteine, an amino acid known for its antioxidant properties and ability to scavenge free radicals.
Unlike other keratin sources, wool is renewable. Sheep need to be shorn annually for their wellbeing, providing a natural, ongoing supply of this feedstock year after year. WS Particles are made to contribute to a circular economy.
